A 14-year-old boy was forced to give away all of his stuff for his reckless behavior.
Angel Martinez was seen sitting in front of their home in Phoenix with his possessions displayed on the sidewalk. ‘Sorry I stole my parent’s car and was speeding,’ a sign reads.
A bedroom set, a flat TV screen, designer shoes, and clothes were all given away for free to punish the teen for taking his parents’ Range Rover out while his parents were celebrating their wedding anniversary.
His dad, Ramon Martinez, said to Fox5: “Today, his room is 100 percent empty, and we’re giving all his stuff away.”
Angel then explained that he was handwashing the Range Rover when he decided to take the pricey car for a drive.
“’I washed the car but didn’t have anything to dry it, so [I thought] I’m gonna go for one spin until it dries,” the teen said. “I don’t have a license so I just took it.”
Mr. Martinez told his son that his bad behavior could’ve had consequences.
“He could’ve run someone over. Something really bad could’ve happened,” he expressed.
He told the news outlet that his son will be sleeping on the couch for some time.
Speaking about giving away his belongings, Angel said: “It’s kind of weird, but I think it’s a fair punishment.”
Many people praised the parents for teaching their son a lesson, with one commenting: “It’s not often when I read an article about good parenting, but awesome job by them.”
Another wrote: “That’s pretty light punishment on all accounts, had I done anything like that in my heyday my parents would have whipped by backside until I couldn’t sit down for a week.”
